Match Report: New Durham AFC 2-2 Durham City AFC 12/08/23

After three months wait, the 23/24 Wearside First Division finally got underway yesterday, with Durham City AFC opening up their season with a local derby against New Durham AFC at Bowburn Park. The Citizens had a productive pre-season, with players coming and going, playing nine games, winning four and losing five, scoring 29 and conceding 28. But it was time for the lads to put those lessons learned and fitness into the first game of the season.

Durham City AFC Club Meeting - 22/06/23

Yesterday evening our Durham City board members, volunteers and staff met to reflect on last season, outline future plans, address concerns and questions raised internally and externally and discussed expectations for next season. Below is an overview of certain topics which were discussed in the two hour meeting which are able to comment on and we hope to provide you with further information as things develop. We know several of you have burning questions and issues which you want addressed. Smart Move Weekly Round Up v Wolviston FC

​Durham City AFC are back in action on Wednesday night, Welcoming wolviston FC to Leyburn Grove. Last time out, Darlington town where the deserved winners taking the match 6 nil. We were supposed to travel down to shildonreserves on Saturday but the game was called off due to the rain on the pitch. This has given the lads time to reset for two games at home this week And we're relishing the challenge.

​After a bizarre night down at Durham United, Durham City came off a 5-0 reverse thanks to some extraordinary scenes. At Durham City AFC, we pride ourselves in hard work, dedication to our cause, the will to win our first game and above all, carry ourselves in in an authentic, honest way. We are disappointed with our performance on Thursday night and will look to make up for that at todays game.

Smart Move Weekly Round Up v Durham United

Durham City AFC are taking on Durham United in another derby day in Durham. Although our boys are still looking for our first win of the season, the competitive spirit of the side is laid bare for all to see. We gave a valiant account of ourselves down at Shotton Colliery on Saturday, but with a bit of unfortunate luck, we lost 3-1. Tonight we take on Durham united at the Graham Sports Centre, where kick-off will be at 7.45pm. How many of you fine Citizens can we get down there to cheer our boys on?

Wayne called it and the lads delivered last week! after going three goals down against South Moor, your citizens only come back to draw in an intense game and we can even count ourselves a little unfortunate not to pick up the win. The lads showed character and resilience with a never-say-die attitude, which has been instilled in the team by manager Wayne Gredziak. Get to know…..Curtis Layfield

This week, we chat to midfielder Curtis Layfield and get to know more about the player outside of just football. The 21-year-old joined Durham City in November 2023, as part of the new squad rebuild. Curtis formerly played for Durham City a few seasons back and also Bishop Auckland.
