With our gaffer selfishly being on his holiday the last week (we only joke Wayne), we spoke to assistant manager James Gilbey who took charge of our last two games against West Auckland and Belmont United. James gives us his thoughts on yesterdays game, the team as a whole, their progression and upcoming fixtures.

After three months wait, the 23/24 Wearside First Division finally got underway yesterday, with Durham City AFC opening up their season with a local derby against New Durham AFC at Bowburn Park. The Citizens had a productive pre-season, with players coming and going, playing nine games, winning four and losing five, scoring 29 and conceding 28. But it was time for the lads to put those lessons learned and fitness into the first game of the season.

Yesterday evening our Durham City board members, volunteers and staff met to reflect on last season, outline future plans, address concerns and questions raised internally and externally and discussed expectations for next season. Below is an overview of certain topics which were discussed in the two hour meeting which are able to comment on and we hope to provide you with further information as things develop.
