THE SMART MOVE WEEKLY CATCH-UP WITH WAYNE GREDZIAK

by Justin Smart

After a bizarre night down at Durham United, Durham City came off a 5-0 reverse thanks to some extraordinary scenes. At Durham City AFC, we pride ourselves in hard work, dedication to our cause, the will to win our first game and above all, carry ourselves in in an authentic, honest way. We are disappointed with our performance on Thursday night and will look to make up for that at todays game.

Therefore, Club Secretary Justin smart had a word with manager Wayne about what happened on Thursday night and his views on today's match against Richmond Town.

Justin Smart - What on earth happened on Thursday night?

Wayne Gredziak -  Some days you have bad days at the office but some days you put things down to something that are out of our realms of your control. On Thursday, both those things were relevant. We were outplayed by a team that play and train together every day and ultimately are a side well worth sitting near the top of the table.

JS - We have new match officials today as the referee for today's match was also the referee on Thursday night. How might that help the players today?

WG -
We need to stop concentrating on what the referee is doing or how they are officiating the game, as we are getting too involved and that in turn is dictating our performance and results. We have a job to do and need to start getting points on the board.

JS - Do we have changes for our side from 2 nights ago?

WG -  We welcome back Kaya Bodur, Aiden West and also the supporters will get to see new signing Yusuf Kareem in his debut, so I am excited myself as he has looked so good in training.

JS - Tell us more about today's opposition Richmond Town. You must have a bit of local knowledge!

WG -
As you know I live in Richmond and have played and managed Richmond Town. I know every player, I know all the management team. They are a good side and most definitely have improved these last few seasons but they are there inconsistent. They have one main threat which is Tafairi Nicolas who was at Crook Town last season and is great player. However, I feel their weak link is Lewis Cocks. That’s where we need to exploit as he has lots of errors in him…

JS - Lastly, a message for The Yellow and Blue fans.

WG -  I take blame for Thursdays performance but it’s one bad performance in 8. I can take that. After todays game, we have a 9 day break before we play Darlington Town on a Wednesday night. These lads are young, hungry lads and are on the beginning of their footballing journey and mistakes are going to happen, unfortunately, but they need your support more than. As I keep saying, I believe in every single one of them in achieving Wearside League Division 1 status next season.
