We're back with our 'Get to know you' player segments and this time we chat to midfielder, Dylan Cairns, to get to know more about the player outside of just football. The 25-year-old joined Durham City in March 2023, as part of the new squad rebuild. Dylan formerly played for Farringdon Detached.
How did you get into football?
So I got into football naturally at about 4/5, told my mam I wanted to start playing and it just went from there.
Who do you support?
I'm a Sunderland fan, dark sheep of the family as the rest are Geordies!
Who is your favourite football player, past or present?
Favourite player has to be Ronaldinho, effortlessly brilliant.
Favourite football moment? Can be your own or one you have witnessed.

What is your go to song to get you pumped up for match day?
My music's all over at the best of times, but match days I'd say Kanye, Jay-z kind of vibe.
Any superstitions or pre-game rituals you have to do?
Not necessarily one for superstition, I think what will be will be so I tend to just try to enjoy playing.
What is your favourite food? Can be a meal or cuisine
Quite like my spice, can't go wrong with a nice curry!
Do you have any other hobbies outside of football? What do you like to do in your downtime?
I enjoy running and hiking outside of football. Love a day in the Lake District! Always a challenge to squeeze them in with two kids though haha!
If money wasn’t an issue, where in the world would you choose to go, either on holiday or to live?
Think I'd head somewhere in Scandinavia and travel around those parts, fascinated with the scenery over there.
